Apple Restricts Employees from Using ChatGPT and Other AI Tools to Prevent Data Leaks
(CTN News) – According to reports, Apple employees will be prohibited from utilizing ChatGPT and similar AI platforms.
The announcement comes after The Wall Street Journal revealed that Apple is working on its language-generating AI technology. The corporation reportedly worries that insider information could be leaked if its staff utilize chatbots like OpenAI’s.
ChatGPT Banned for Apple Employees as Company Develops its Own AI Language Technology
In addition, employees have been told not to use GitHub’s Copilot, which is owned by Microsoft and uses OpenAI Code to write code.
Apple is not the first large technology business to limit employees’ use of ChatGPT. After confidential company information was accidentally posted to ChatGPT, the service was disabled for all Samsung workers.
Many businesses have banned ChatGPT, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Citigroup, to safeguard sensitive information.
OpenAI’s chatbot has recently experienced problems with private data leaks as well. The first message of new conversations and users’ payment details was exposed in March due to a defect in ChatGPT.
In April, OpenAI released a new feature that allowed users to turn off their conversation history, suggesting that the company was serious about addressing customers’ privacy concerns.
To help “professionals who need more control over their data and enterprises seeking to manage their end users,” OpenAI is developing a new subscription tier of ChatGPT for businesses.
On Thursday, OpenAI announced that it would release a ChatGPT app for Apple’s iOS.
