Wiratchant Erases Big Deficit to Win Thailand’s Queen’s Cup
KOH SAMUI – Thaworn Wiratchant fired a 5-under 66 on Sunday and came from behind to win the Queen’s Cup by a single stroke.
Wiratchant finished his 17th Asian Tour title at 12-under-par 272 at Santiburi Samui Country Club.
The Thailand native birdied the second, but he gave that back with a bogey on the fourth. Birdies on six and nine put Wiratchant at minus-9 at the turn.
Wiratchant birdied three of four holes from the 11th to jump to 12-under. After stumbling to a bogey on the 17th, he birdied the last to seal the win.
Third-round leader Poom Saksansin had three bogeys in a 5-hole span from the second to slide to minus-9. He fought back with birdies on 16 and 17, but closed with a par on the par-5 18th to end one back. He finished with a 1-over 72 to end at minus-11.
Donlaphatchai Niyomchon (68) and Siddikur Rahman (72) shared third place at 10-under 274. Seuk-hyun Baek closed with a 1-under 70 to take fifth at minus-8.
