Ariya Jutanugarn got a 72, even par on Tuesday to win a medal of honour after the second round of stroke play in the Championship U.S. Girls’ Junior.

Jutanugarn finished 36 holes at four under 140 and won a medal of honour by four strokes. Wednesday will be directed to the match-play part of the championship as the top seed when the golfers were cut at 64 under.

Casie Cathrea posted a 70, two on Tuesday at the Country Club Olympia Fields and was second at-par 144

Eimi Koga Hawaii shot a 69 in three to reach the third place in more than one.

Jutanugarn, a 15-year-old from Thailand, opened the championship with 68, four on Monday and played well in the opening nine. She birdied two and five, and despite a bogey on the sixth, they turned to one under.

She birdied the par 10, five, but things fell apart a bit.

Jutanugarn bogey at 11, 12 and 14 to fall three in the championship. She has a new blow with a birdie at 15, a hole he bogeyed on Monday, and vines cling to their last three stroke-plays that title.

“In the first nine holes, I played well,” said Jutanugarn, who played in the U.S. Women’s Open, but missed the cut. “But the back nine was not so bad. I missed three short putts, about three feet.”

Nicole Morales (71), Mariah Stackhouse (73) and Emma Talley (71) share fourth with two more 146.

Yu Liu (74), Gabriella Then (74), Lindsey Weaver (74), Megan Khang (73), Mariko Tumangan (75), Sophia Schubert (74) and Lydia Choi (71) tied for seventh place in more than three.

Last year’s winner Doris Chen was not in the field this week, but returned Dambaugh finalist Katelyn. Launched a two-over 74 on Tuesday and reached the match-play at eight-over 152.

A second phase of six girls in the last three points in match play. Lakareber Abe, Megan and Marissa Chow Blonie advanced.
