Singha Masters Kicks off at Santiburi Country Club in Chiang Rai

CHIANG RAI – The five-million-baht Singha Masters Title Tournament, the 2014 season finale of the All Thailand Golf Tour, tee off today at Santiburi Country Club in Chiang Rai.

Veterans Prayad Marksaeng and Thammanoon Srirot will be vying for their fifth Singha Masters title this week.

Prayad has won the tournament in 2000, 2003, 2008 and 2012 and is favourite to win the money title following his victories at the Pattaya Open and All Thailand Championship.

Other former champions in the field are Thammanoon (2001, 2002, 2005 and 2009), Thaworn Wiratchant (2007) and Boonchu Ruangkit (2006).

Chapchai Nirat has come close to winning the tournament many times and is confident that he will finally claim the title after his triumphs at the Singha Championship and Chiang Mai Open.

Also in the field are Tirawat Kaewsiribandit, Danthai Boonma, Phachara Kongwatmai and Phiphatphong Naewsuk, who all secured their 2015 Asian Tour cards in Hua Hin last week.

At last year’s tournament, Poom Saksansin landed his first professional title with a play-off victory over Pavit Tangkramolprasert.

There will be also a 72-hole women’s competition with the field led by Junthima Gulyanamitta, Onnarin Sattayabanphot and Rungthiwa Pangjan. – By Kittipong Thongsombat
