A mockery of the Asia Cup 2023 has been made by the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Jay Shah, after it was revealed today that the Super 4 matches will be held in Colombo instead of Hambantota, as originally planned.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided to shift all the Super 4 matches of the Asia Cup 2023 to Hambantota as a long rainy spell is expected to affect Colombo for the next 15 days, resulting in this decision.

After careful consideration of the weather forecast and the possibility of rain disrupting the matches, the decision was made to cancel the match. An email was also sent to all members of the Shah-led ACC informing them of the decision.

It would appear that shortly after this email was sent, the ACC retracted it, stating that the matches would be held in Colombo in accordance with the schedule.

As a result, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is upset over the unilateral decision taken by the ACC and has called for a meeting to resolve the matter as soon as possible.

Due to the sudden change in venue for the Asia Cup 2023 matches, the PCB is having logistical issues, while on the other hand the players are also feeling anxious due to the lack of clarity regarding the upcoming matches.

It was also Shah, who is also the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who was involved in the late changes that were made to the schedule of the ICC World Cup 2023 which led to criticism from some cricketing circles.
