Royal Rumble: Predictions For Who The Surprise Entrants Will Be
Wrestling fans, tonight is your night! The Royal Rumble is again upon us, and we will host two 30-entrant matches this year, one men’s and one women’s. Right now, 25 people have entered the male match, while 23 people have entered the female match. There are still a few spots to fill and if you’ve been a part of a few Royal Rumble matches, you know that one of the reasons it’s one of the most popular nights of the wrestling year is that there are always surprises and special returns. Can anyone get a big pop from the crowd in St. Louis tonight? Here are my predictions for the five possible surprise entrants in tonight’s Royal Rumble matches.
1. Ronda Rousey

Let’s start with something easy. It was reported the other day that Rousey is training hard and is set to return to WWE. A lot of people are looking forward to seeing her at WrestleMania in April. This is because she will be at the event that kicks off Mania season every year, the Royal Rumble. Adding Rousey will boost the women’s division on either show and she could easily seek revenge on Becky Lynch, the woman who defeated her in her last WWE match.

2. Bray Wyatt

Now is the time to speculate, kids! Despite being one of WWE’s biggest and best stars for 12 years, Wyatt was shockingly released this past July. Since then, we have heard rumour after rumour about where he may end up, but none of it has come true. AEW, IMPACT, NJPW have not signed him, so what does he plan on doing? The moment Wyatt entered the men’s Royal Rumble match, probably in a new gimmick of his own creation, would be an “OMG!” moment. WrestleMania could add a big star match and would be a very big deal.
3. Paige
The one I’m least confident about is this one. Could it be possible? Of course. Over-the-top battle royals have the advantage of providing more protection than usual to the performers. Unlike a normal match, you don’t have to play for a long time or do all the things you would normally do. As a young athlete, Paige’s career ended abruptly and way too soon when she was 25 years old in 2018. A career in wrestling can be fragile, and getting knocked out when someone with so much potential was involved was particularly painful.
In the present, Paige has been quite vocal about feeling much better and having a renewed desire to return to work. The incredible returns of Shawn Michaels and Edge have shown us that anything is possible despite spinal injuries. Considering how young she is, Paige could very well give it another go if she is in the mood. Maybe tonight is the night? Wouldn’t it be nice to get back into the ring again?

4. Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle’s career was probably cut short by spinal injuries due to similar reasons to Paige’s. However, Kurt Angle is Kurt Angle! His career ended with an Olympic gold medal after breaking his neck! He’s scared of the Royal Rumble, don’t you think? Angle has made it clear over the years that he still enjoys wrestling and even believes he is capable of it. While WWE isn’t quite ready to believe him there and won’t be having him as an active competitor again, a one-off appearance in tonight’s Royal Rumble match for a huge pop could be just what the doctor ordered. St. Louis wants Angle to tell him that he stinks! St. Louis wants Angle to tell him that he stinks! Bring it on, WWE!
5. Brock Lesnar/Roman Reigns

I know, I know, I know.  Can you hold your screaming for a moment and allow me to explain? The WWE and Universal Championships are currently held by these two teams. The Royal Rumble will feature each of them in a title match tonight. The point is, however, that each of them is a champion. And what if one of them loses? Perhaps even worse, what if they are both at fault?
The feud between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar isn’t over. Due to Reigns’ contracting COVID-19, the Universal title match at WWE Day 1 did not take place, and Lesnar entered the WWE title match and won it. The main event of this year’s WrestleMania has always been Reigns versus Lesnar. Given that each man is the current Champion and a title unification match is highly unlikely for a number of reasons, how do we get to our planned goal?

Paul Heyman is here. The beast Heyman has served for 20 years now has recently returned to him. He’s at the center of the Reigns/Lesnar war. But what if Heyman plays him? It seems Lesnar disapproves of Heyman’s actions and feelings this time around, as we’ve seen tension between them. What if Heyman and Reigns have set a trap for Lesnar and plan to cheat him out of the WWE title tonight, so he can compete in the Royal Rumble match right after, so he can beat Reigns at WrestleMania?
Alternatively, we can reverse it. Heyman still harbors a grudge against Reigns for turning on him last month, and as a result, tries to interfere to cost Reigns what he loves most: his Universal title. The only difference is that Reigns is going after Lesnar’s WWE title instead of the Royal Rumble match.
I don’t believe you saw either of those happening. This year’s winner of the men’s Rumble isn’t clear in the least, and maybe, just maybe, that’s because he’s one of the Champions we expect the match-winner to challenge in the coming hours. What a great Royal Rumble surprise that would be!
