Robson’s Thailand appointment by Worawi Makudi
Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards was consulted by the head of the Thailand FA over the choice of Bryan Robson as their national team coach.
Robson, in his other role as an adviser for a football investment fund, is at the centre of controversy after being secretly filmed by Channel 4’s Dispatches in Bangkok suggesting ways of getting around football regulations on owning more than one club.
The TV sting has put Robson’s position as a Manchester United global ambassador under threat, with the owning Glazer family unlikely to be impressed with his comments made in a United theme bar
Richards was asked for advice on Robson’s Thailand appointment by Worawi Makudi, one of the discredited FIFA ExCo members.
Go-between Richards is also somehow still working on a resolution between the BBC and Sir Alex Ferguson, saying he is very hopeful that Fergie will start talking to the Beeb again after a seven-year silence — although nobody else believes anything will change.
