Ricky Rubio

Ricky Rubio has been a major part of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ surprising success this season. He seemed to have reinvented himself once again early in the 2021-22 season with the Cavaliers. In Tuesday’s loss to the Pelicans, the veteran guard appeared to have injured his left knee.

Here’s all we know about Ricky Rubio’s injury situation:

What is Ricky Rubio’s injury?

Rubio left Tuesday’s game against the Pelicans after appearing to suffer an injury to his left knee with 2:20 remaining.

As he attempted to spark the Cavaliers to victory, the Spaniard guard almost recorded a triple-double with 27 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists.

Once he went down, his teammates helped him off the floor after he signaled for them. After leaving the locker room, he returned without putting any weight on his left leg.

How long is Ricky Rubio’s ruled out?

The Cavaliers announced Wednesday that Rubio tore his left ACL and will miss the rest of the season.

What is Ricky Rubio’s injury history?

After playing at least 65 games since the 2014-15 season, Rubio has been quite durable. The important thing to note is that Rubio tore his ACL in the same knee in 2012. Before this injury, the 6-foot-2 guard played in every game for the Cavaliers, averaging 13.1, 6.6, and 4.1 points with an incredible plus-minus of +5.4.

Cavaliers upcoming schedule

Darius Garlan entering the NBA’s health and safety protocols at the same time as Rubio’s injury isn’t good news for the Cavaliers, who play three of their next four games at home before a nine-game road trip in the Western Conference.
