British Boxer Tommy Fury Backs Out of Jake Paul Fight

British professional boxer Tommy Fury, Tyson Fury’s half-brother, announced on Monday he was forced to blackout from his upcoming bout against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul because of a serious chest infection and a broken rib.

Jake Paul and Tommy Fury were scheduled to face off in Tampa, Florida on Dec. 18. In August, he won a fight on the undercard of Paul’s UFC welterweight title fight against Tyron Woodley.

In 2019, Tommy Fury, who hails from a long line of boxing families, appeared on the British reality show Love Island.

In a tweet posted by promoter Frank Warren, Tommy Fury said he was “absolutely heartbroken” about having to pull out of his fight with Jake Paul due to a bacterial chest infection and a broken rib.

My disappointment with this fight is beyond words, and I really hope we can reschedule it in the New Year. I want it to happen more than anything.”

In the wake of the British boxers withdrawal, Jake Paul will rematch Woodley. The cruiserweight fight between Paul and Woodley in August ended in a split-decision victory for Paul.

Jake Paul said on Twitter in a video: “I’m offering him (Woodley) $500,000 extra if he knocks me out.”
