Bangkok Glass v Chiangrai United

Chiangrai United

This weekend sees The Glass Rabbits entertain The Fighting Beetles in the 13th game of the TPL season.

Only two points separate the two teams at this stage and a United win will see them jump ahead of their hosts in the standings. Whilst Chiangrai can be relatively happy with their league positioning so far, Bangkok Glass must be very disappointed. They were expected to challenge for the title but are well off the pace and suffered a poor and inconsistent season. The Beetles have had more losses than the Rabbits but have produced much better performances overall than their counterparts.

Despite BG’s poor season, they are still formidable at home and have only ever lost twice, both times to Buriram PEA on their home turf since their formation in 2009. Chiangrai also haven’t faired too well in the capital so far this season with back to back losses to Army and Tero a short time ago.

If recent form is thrown into the equation, we can see that after those 5 defeats in a row, CR have now won back to back games against good opposition in Pattaya and Muang Thong United, they will clearly be hoping to continue their winning ways. Bangkok Glass’ form had started to pick up after an inconsistent start. Good wins against Navy and SriRacha were expected to be added to with a victory at Sisaket last weekend. However the inconsistencies came to the fore once again as BG produced probably their worst performance of the season and succumbed by two goals to nil against the Dangerous Kouprey. Surely they will be hurt by that performance and result and will be looking to put things right against The Beetles.

It all makes for a very interesting match which is hard to call. Will BG be able to play their free flowing, one touch football or will CRU’s physical strength prove too much? All will be revealed by 8pm on Sunday 15th May.
