2023 English FA Cup Preview

Could it get more dramatic? This year’s FA Cup final has come down to a Manchester derby between United and City, as the former look to win their second trophy this season, and the latter look to complete the second leg of a possible treble after their Premier League victory.

Football is an amazing game that has a history of throwing up drama and excitement, with the FA Cup, in particular, being a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the years. With so many things on the line, the 2023 Final promises to be one of the most dramatic in recent memory.

Will Man City Win Leg Two of The Treble?

Fresh from their third Premier League win in a row, Man City will head to Wembley at the top of their game. Granted, they did taste defeat to Bournemouth in their final game, but that was a much-changed team, and, understandably, one eye would have been on this game.

City are currently the 40/85 favorites to win the final, a price you could take if you have no fancies about the football odds tonight. It could prove to be a price that is a little on the short side, however, as the FA Cup Final is a one-off game that has a habit of producing some surprising results.

With Pep Guardiola again at the helm, City have been simply breathtaking at times this season. They were made to show their metal with the title challenge posed to them by Arsenal, but Guardiola always finds a way of winning, and the change of tactics he made towards the end of the season has resulted in even better performances.

Erling Haaland has been the catalyst behind another outstanding season at the Etihad Stadium, with his 36 goals being the record amount scored by a player in a single Premier League season.

Kevin De Bruyne has also been outstanding, and this pair, along with the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden, and Rodri, have made their team one of the best that the world of football has ever seen.

Can United Stop Their Bitter Rivals?

If any team would like to stop City from landing a treble, it would be their near neighbors. United were the last team to do the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League treble back in 1999, and there would be great satisfaction on the red side of Manchester were they to stop their rivals from completing the same feat.

Under Erik ten Hag, Man Utd have improved no end throughout the season. After a dreadful start, they eventually found their feet, with the likes of Casemeiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Marcus Rashford, being key to bringing the good feeling back to Old Trafford.

So, What Will Happen In The Final?

It is currently one win each when it comes to meetings between the two Manchester clubs this season, and although City are strong favorites to win the prestigious FA Cup trophy, United will prove a tough nut to crack.

City should win if at their best, but don’t be surprised if this one goes all the way to a dreaded penalty shootout.
