BANGKOK – The body of an unidentified foreigner was found floating in the sea off Koh Samui island on Sunday afternoon. Koh Samui police investigators, said the body, which was found at 1pm about 500 meters from the beach.
Koh Samui Police said he was a large and tall man aged between 30-40 years without physical injuries
He was wearing a pair of brown shorts, the face was swollen beyond recognition. He was believed to have been dead for approximately seven days. No documents were found on the body, leaving his identity and nationality unknown.
Since there were no reports about a missing person filed with local police, the origins of the mans identity remains a mystery.
Police have also consulted with the Surat Thani port-in and port-out (PIPO) control centre. The body will be sent a hospital to establish the identity and the cause of death.
In January a 42 year old French woman was found floating in the sea off Koh Samui with a head injury. The body of Isabel Baillee had been brought ashore in a boat.
She had a fracture to her forehead and bruising and had been dead about two to three hours.
Her friend Natalie said that she had been staying with Isabel for two years. Isabel was not yet working and had been studying language at a school on Koh Samui.
She had left their place at 9 am on her motorcycle saying she was going to visit a waterfall. That was the last she saw of her. The case like so many others on Koh Samui has gone unsolved.
