YouTuber MrBeast Overtakes PewDiePie In Most-Subscribed Youtube Channel

(CTN NEWS) – MrBeast has overtaken PewDiePie as YouTube’s most subscribed user, the first change in 10 years.

In August 2013, PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, became the most subscribed YouTuber. He became the first person to attract 100 million subscribers in 2019.

MrBeast, really Jimmy Donaldson, gained his 112 millionth subscriber this month due to his philanthropy. That puts him over PewDiePie’s 111 million subscribers, although YouTube does not show the exact numbers.

Though it would appear MrBeast has a million more subscribers than PewDiePie, it is probably a much closer number measured in the thousands

In addition to his videos featuring huge cash giveaways and prizes, MrBeast also raises money for charity.

With more than 10 million subscribers, his philanthropy-themed YouTube channel launched in 2021, and he has a licensed charity that functions as a food bank to feed communities across the country.

TeamSeas and TeamTrees, both fundraisers, focusing on environmental issues, were organized by him and fellow YouTuber Mark Rober – the latter raising more than $24 million (£16.7 million) to plant 20 million trees.

TeamTrees also received almost $70,000 from PewDiePie himself.

Mastered the art

Steven Bridges, a British YouTuber with millions of views on the platform, told the BBC MrBeast has mastered the art of creating compelling videos.

“MrBeast probably understands it better than any other YouTuber in the world.”

“Creating an entertaining video is one thing, but ensuring that every single second of the video keeps the audience hooked is very difficult. MrBeast’s retention rates and view counts speak for themselves.

“MrBeast consistently makes the most entertaining videos that appeal to the largest number of people, and he consistently does that.

“I don’t think any YouTuber is surprised MrBeast has taken the top spot.”

T-Series

Both have yet to comment on the milestone, but PewDiePie previously said MrBeast would “definitely” overtake him. In an August 2022 video, he joked, “I can’t wait until it’s over.”. In my opinion, he deserves it. I hope he does.”

MrBeast may have the most subscribers on YouTube, but he is far from having the largest channel. T-Series leads the way in that category with over 200 million subscribers.

Despite their apparent rivalry for YouTube’s top spot, MrBeast publicly supported PewDiePie’s music video channel. As of 2018, PewDiePie owned the top YouTube channel overall, and he fought publicly with T-Series as it competed for that title.

MrBeast was the first prominent YouTuber to support PewDiePie, purchasing radio ads and billboards in North Carolina to encourage people to subscribe.

PewDiePie eventually lost the top spot to T-Series despite going from 60 million to 90 million subscribers in the contest, making his lead as top YouTuber seemingly unassailable.

In the end, that did not turn out to be the case.
