Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Trailer Shows Tyranid Hordes

(CTN News) – The first gameplay trailer for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 was revealed as part of the Warhammer Skulls exhibition.

This one finally shows off the waves of Tyranids you’ll have to stomp through in this surprise sequel.

It is clear that there is a solid view of both the shooty parts as well as the stabbing parts of combat, as our superhuman hero uses his chainsword to cull through his enemies with the mechanical teeth that it has. Here is a whole bunch of fun for you to enjoy.

Seeing everything shown off here gives me serious flashbacks to the X360/PS3 era of action games that were filled with ultraviolent battles, washed-out colours, and big chunky characters that dominated the action game scene.

The bloody excess of the Gears and Gods of War games mixed with Dynasty Warriors’ seemingly never-ending sea of enemies, you know the sort of thing I mean.

Having said that, it should be noted that the first edition of Warhammer Space Marine came out during the same time period.

Even so, as a child of those glorious days, I have nothing but positive things to say about everything I’ve seen so far about Warhammer Space Marine 2.

The Space Marine 2 game is developed by Saber Interactive and uses the same engine as their co-op shooter World War Z, which uses the same engine as the Warhammer game Space Marine 2.

This game certainly had an impressive number of zombies on-screen at any given moment – teetering on top of each other, raining down from the ceilings, and simply scrambling toward you from every direction at any given time.

The recent trailer for Space Marine 2 clearly shows how that technology can be put to good use, especially with the flood of aliens coming towards the end of the trailer.

It was also good fun watching the original Space Marines in their original guise.

It is extremely satisfying when you hammer and lascannon your way through a small army,” wrote Alec Meer (RPS in peace) in his review of Warhammer Space Marine, and then proudly pan an absurdly blood-splattered Titus around the now-empty room where it all happened.”

There is always something about an action game that appeals to me, especially if it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s still unknown when Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 will be released on PC via Steam, but it will come to PC via Steam once it’s ready.
