How Slot Machines Changed The Gaming Industry Forever

Slot are the most loved casino game across the globe. Their presence in the casino world really has changed the gaming industry and how it works in many ways.

Not only that, but the technology involved in slot games has really reached a new level of wizard!

With incredible graphics and characters to play along with, you can choose from a great selection of slots and games.

When you play online, you can game anywhere, at anytime! This means the days of traveling to your local casino venues are over, and you can now play from the comfort of your own home.

Keep on reading to find out more about how Slots have changed the gaming industry…

The Liberty Bell

In the past, Slots were a game where you pulled a lever for the reels to spin, whereas now, all you need to do is press a touchscreen.

The first Slot, The Liberty Bell, was invented in 1895 by car mechanic, Charles Fey.

The slot machine had three spinning reels, a diamond, spade, and heart symbols which were painted around each reel, plus the image of a cracked Liberty Bell.

Things have changed quite significantly since The Liberty Bell. You may not notice whilst you’re playing, but the graphics and designing that goes into slot creation is really quite something!

Thanks to touch screens, users can now interact with the designs, for example in most modern slot machines, characters move when people touch them.

These designs, artwork and graphics add a sense of realism to motionless artworks.

Money Honey

A long period of time passed before the gambling industry experienced its next evolutionary step when it came to Slots.

However, in 1963, US-based developer Bally launched the first ever totally electromechanical slot machine.

Previous Slots had included elements of electromechanical design but this took things to a completely new level.

The bottomless hopper and potential 500 coin win made it more attractive to the market at a time when Las Vegas was growing into the iconic casino landmark it is now.

Fortune Coin

A few years later, in 1976, a company called Fortune Coin launched the first ever video slot machine.

This would set the precedent for decades of slot machine releases, because of the slot machines you still see on the casino floors to this day.

Its first live public demonstration came at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel, and the machine became hugely popular along the Las Vegas Strip, paving the way for the Slots we see today!

Reel ’Em In

This was the first video slot to offer a second screen bonus feature. Modern day Slots are known for their bonus features. It’s difficult to imagine a world when they didn’t exist.

Reel ‘Em In still remains one of the most important Slots due to its impact on the industry by introducing the world to more in-depth bonus features!

Hopefully this article has unpacked how exactly the Slots have changed the casino business, forever! Will you be spinning the reels anytime soon?
