Passenger Van Crashes into Tree in Northern Thailand, Injuring Driver and Nine Passengers
LAMPANG – A passenger van loaded with passengers rammed into a tree in Thoen district of Northern Thailand Lampang vince Sunday, injuring the driver and nine passengers, police said.
The accident occurred at about 4.30am the Toyota Commuter van was taking nine passengers – five men and four women – from Samut Prakan province to Ko Kha district of Lampang.
The van driver, Prawit Muanfong, 55, and all nine passengers on board were injured, two seriously.
Rescue workers extracted the passengers and driver from the wrecked Commuter Van and were transported to Thoen Hospital. The two with more severe injuries were later sent to Lampang Hospital.
Police were investigating. It was initially believed the driver fell asleep at the wheel.
