WWE Legend Triple H Announces His Retirement From Wrestling After 27 Years
Triple H, a 14-time championship wrestler and current Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development at WWE, announced his retirement from in-ring wrestling after shockingly revealing that he had been battling viral pneumonia. Back in September last year, The Game suffered a serious cardiac arrest that led to successful heart surgery. The major news development was announced on WWE’s official social media accounts.
WWE legend Triple H retires after winning 14 championships
Triple H announced to ESPN that he is retiring from in-ring wrestling due to his recent heart issues and that he has been fitted with a defibrillator in his chest after having been hospitalized earlier. The Kings of Kings said during the interview:
“I had viral pneumonia. As time went on and I returned home, my lungs became increasingly inflamed. After my wife [WWE executive Stephanie McMahon] saw some blood and stuff I was coughing up, I went and got checked, and it turned out I had viral pneumonia and fluid in my lungs. I had some fluid around my heart, so they did an EKG, an echo, and everything else.
Basically, your heart pumps out 55-60 percent of your ejection fraction. I had 30 percent. Don’t waste any more time, pack a bag, and head to the emergency room. I’ll update you on the way there. When I got to the ER, my ejection fraction had dropped to 22 percent, which, ya know, meant I was in heart failure.”
Triple H WWE Career
Triple H won 14 world championships (9 WWE Championships and 5 World Heavyweight Championships), and it would be sad for all WWE fans to find out he wouldn’t be competing in the ring anymore. In a career that spanned over three decades, he also won the Intercontinental Championship five times, the King of the Ring in 1997, and the Royal Rumble in 2002 and 2016.
