UK PM Johnson Says he Fears Russia Will Deploy Chemical Weapons In Ukraine

In an interview on Thursday, Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson echoed the concerns of US officials this week as he predicted that Russia may use chemical weapons in Ukraine, saying it’s “straight out of their playbook.”

According to Boris Johnson, it is true that you are hearing about chemical weapons that are straight out of their playbook, he told British broadcaster Sky News in an interview.

“They start to say that there are chemical weapons that have been stored by their opponents or by the American government. So when they themselves deploy chemical weapons – which I fear they will do – they will have some kind of maskirovka [Russian military deception] in the form of a fake story ready to go,” he noted.

Johnson went on to say, “I just want to point out that this is exactly what they’re doing. It is a cynical, barbarous government I fear.”
As well as this, Liz Truss, the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, told CNN this morning that the UK is “very concerned” about the possibility that Russia will use chemical weapons in Ukraine. She stated that “Russia has used chemical weapons before in conflicts.”.

In light of Russia’s “track record,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday warned that Russia had the capability to use chemical weapons in Ukraine or manufacture a “false flag” operation that would use them.
