Thailand Rewarded Three Hong Kong Celebrities With 5 Year Visas

(CTN News) – Giving celebrities and influencers enormous social media followings and five-year passports is Thailand’s latest tactic for luring visitors.

Thailand is concentrating on luring back Chinese and Hong Kong tourists, who were Thailand’s top two sources of visitors before the Covid-19 epidemic, after Beijing abandoned most of its Covid-19 travel restrictions last month.

This year, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) wants to bring in 800,000 visitors from Hong Kong.

Three Hong Kong celebrities, Michelle Yim, Simon Yam, and Roger Wu, received Thailand Privilege Cards from the TAT in return for helping to promote Thailand’s tourist sector in China.

According to TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn, the three were chosen for their steadfast support of and contributions to Thai tourism.

The three superstars, culinary critic and travel blogger Roger Wu, 50, 67-year-old actress Michelle Yim, 67-year-old actor Simon Yam, and 50-year-old Roger Wu, have enormous fan bases in both Hong Kong and mainland China.

A five-year multiple entry visa, fast-track immigration, access to airport lounges, luxury limo transfers, and a waiver of the 90-day reporting requirement are among the benefits that Privilege Card members enjoy.

An Elite card with “elite privilege access” typically costs 1,000,000 Thai baht. Regular Elite cards cost 600,000 baht and are particularly well-liked by Chinese travelers.

At the Sindhorn Kempinski hotel yesterday, Governor Yuthasak gave awards to the three personalities.

“Thailand and Hong Kong have traditionally had close ties, and many Hong Kong residents consider Thailand to be a second home.

The legendary Hong Kong stars Ms. Michelle Yim and Mr. Simon Yam Tat Wah, as well as our biggest influencer, Mr. Roger Wu Wai Chung, receive the Thailand Privilege Card, Friends of Thailand, and Tourism Authority of Thailand Appreciation Award today in honor of their outstanding contributions to Thai tourism and their dedication to fostering closer ties between Thailand and Hong Kong.

Most significantly, they are dedicated to improving Thai tourism for everybody.

As a way of expressing “thank you” for everything they have done for Thailand, we have offered our friends prizes from the bottom of our hearts.

When Michelle Yim received her prize, she commented…

“I am pleased to witness improvements in Thai tourism and feel honored to have won these prizes.

Thailand is a haven for shoppers. Thai folks are gracious and courteous. Thai cuisine is also delicious. I hope everyone feels the same way about Thailand as I do.

Roger Wu replied, his eyes welling up with tears.

“I’m grateful for this honor. After years of being here, I wish to spread a message of hope for our nation to other countries. I wish to encourage everyone to the Land of Smiles since traveling in Thailand is not dangerous.
