Police Arrest Gun Dealers Selling to Teens Via Facebook

BANGKOK – Thai Police have arrested two men in Bangkok, accused of selling home-made guns to technical college students on Facebook, according to a report in Post Today.

Metropolitan Police Bureau chief, Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit Thupkrachang, announced the arrest of Withaya Chai-Auari, 32, and Suriya Khoksombat, 25, on Tuesday.

The suspects were arrested with 11 guns, two smoke bombs and 537 bullets along with equipment to assemble guns at their apartment in Bang Khen district in Bangkok, he said.

Police set up a sting operation to snare the suspects and contacted them to buy guns via their Facebook page, Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit told reporters.

The suspects told police the majority of their customers were teenagers and technical college students, and that they had sold over 100 guns since they started the business, he said.
