Orlando, Fla. (AP) – Kyrie Irving had 41 points at halftime Tuesday night for the Brooklyn Nets, the most ever by an NBA player in two quarters since 2003 when Kobe Bryant had 41 points.

The Nets jumped out to a 86-56 lead over the Orlando Magic during the largest first half in franchise history when Kyrie Irving went 14 for 19 from the field, 6 for 7 from beyond the arc, and 7 of 7 from the free-throw line in 23 minutes.

Bryant scored 42 points in the first half against Washington on March 28, 2003, the most points in the first half in the history of the franchise. This marked the most points in the first half in the history of the franchise.

In the second half of Devin Booker’s 70-point game against Boston on March 24, 2017, that was the most points scored in any half since the New York Knicks star had 51 in the second half.

During the first half of Wilt Chamberlain’s NBA-record 100-point performance, he also scored 41 points.

Because Kyrie Irving has not been vaccinated against the Coronavirus, he will only be available for road games, as New York City requires him to be.
