Joe Biden Tests Positive For COVID Again
(CTN News) – Dr. Kevin O’Connor, president Joe Biden’s physician, reports that he has tested positive for COVID-19 again.
In a letter released by the White House, the doctor said the President tested positive late Saturday morning after testing negative on Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, Thursday morning and Friday morning.
Joe Biden isn’t experiencing any symptoms, according to O’Connor. Currently, there is no reason to restart Paxlovid treatment, but the president will “reinitiate strict isolation procedures.”
“Folks, today I tested positive for COVID again. I’ve got no symptoms, but I’m going to isolate for everyone’s safety. I’ll be back on the road soon,” said Joe Biden on Twitter.
Joe Biden, 79, has received two booster shots and is fully vaccinated. On July 21, Joe Biden tested positive for the first time.
COVID-19 patients with mild or moderate symptoms are treated with a five-day course of Paxlovid, an antiviral pill that reduces the risk of hospitalization and death. Some people who take Paxlovid experience a “rebound,” in which they test positive again after having tested negative after symptoms have faded for two to eight days.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, persons treated with Paxlovid who experience COVID-19 rebound tend to have mild illness; no severe disease has been reported so far.
