Fire Destroys Luxury Resort in Southern Thailand in 10 Minutes
A fire has destroyed a Luxury Resort Villa on Koh Kut island, off the coast of Thailand’s Trat Province, with celebrities recounting their narrow escapes and wondering why such an expensive resort had no fire detection, alarm system, or sprinkler system.
On a Facebook post, Dr. Jiraporn Arunakul, a well-known pediatrician at Ramathibodi Hospital and the owner of the @takekidswithus Facebook page, shared her close call in the devastating fire at the resort where she and her family were vacationing during the weekend.
The fire broke out at about 6 a.m. Sunday morning and the villa where the doctors stayed for only one night was completely destroyed.
She said she heard shouts of “Fire, Fire” from her mother downstairs and ran down only to find a huge ball of flame. She immediately ran upstairs to alert her daughter and husband. All of them then climbed up over the balcony to the roof with the help of her husband.

She claimed to have fallen and lost her footing on the balcony. She says she had no memory of anything until her husband called her name.
She said she lapsed into unconsciousness again and awoke on a stretcher while being transported on a speed boat to be taken to a mainland hospital. Her husband later told her that she had fallen from the roof and had been knocked out.
Meanwhile, former actress Thamolpan “Yam” Panuchitputtiwong, who also stayed at the resort said she heard a commotion outside her room. She woke up only to see the fire through a window, along with some members of her family.
To escape the raging inferno, which by then had already reached the staircase, they climbed through the bathroom which was in the middle of a forest.
She said her other family members who stayed on the second floor had to climb down in the same way Dr. Jiraporn did.
The climb led to broken ribs and head injuries as the structure collapsed.

“Within ten minutes, the villa was completely destroyed. It’s was very bad. “We all survived because of our faith, not because of the Luxury Resort Villa’s security,” Thamolpan said.
