FBI Arrests Michigan Governor Candidate Ryan Kelley For Jan. 6 Involvement

(CTN News) – Ryan Kelley, a Michigan candidate for governor, faces misdemeanor criminal charges for the attack on the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Ryan Kelley was arrested by the FBI on Thursday at his home in Allendale, West Michigan. He is scheduled to appear later on Thursday at the US District Court in Grand Rapids.

According to documents, Ryan Kelley was a member of a crowd that attempted to obstruct the certifying of President Biden as the winner of the November election. Evidence of the insurrection includes photos and videos which have been posted on the internet.

Ryan Kelley is a Republican candidate for governor who will be on the ballot for the August statewide primary elections. In contrast, this is not the case for a large number of Republican candidates who were accused of submitting fraudulently signed petitions and subsequently dropped from the ballot.

Ryan Kelley, according to documents filed by the U.S. attorney’s office, is accused of, among other things, entering and engaging in disorderly conduct in restricted buildings and grounds, and of committing an act of physical violence against a person or property.
