His three-year-old daughter was placed in the care of staff from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Bangkok Police said at a media briefing.
On Sunday, Mr. Niran posted a video on Facebook showing him with a rope wrapped around his daughter’s neck. The girl began to cry and said she could not breathe in the video.

Facebook video reported to police
The shocking video was brought to the attention of the Royal Thai Police and investigators went to the house. When officers arrived there was no one there. The police officers did find a rope similar to the one used by Mr. Niran in the video hanging his daughter.
Neighbors told police that Mr. Niran had done a similar thing several times before to get back at his wife, who had left him. They said that after posting the video Mr. Niran left with his daughter to see relatives in Surin province.
The investigating officers called police headquarters to have a team of police sent after them.
With support from the highway patrol and provincial police, Mr. Niran was arrested in Thailand’s Buri Ram province. The suspect’s estranged wife, Pakakaew, 29, was also taken to a Bangkok police station for questioning.
His wife told police she left him two months ago. She alleged that after she left, Mr. Niran had also hurt his daughter on three occasions. She said he was trying to force her to return to him.
She had refused, and also denied accusations he made that she had a new lover in her life. The mother also alleged Mr. Niran had beaten her on several occasions.
