3 Chinese Murder Suspects Wanted in Thailand Apprehended in Wuhan, China
Thailand’s national police chief said Tuesday that 3 Chinese suspects wanted in the abduction and murder of a 22-year-old Chinese student had been apprehended in Wuhan and would face prosecution in China. The murder is now being blamed on a failed relationship.
Police General Damrongsak Kittiprapas, said the men could face the execution under Chinese law.
The three Chinese suspects were apprehended in the Chinese city of Wuhan. They would not be returned to Thailand for trial because Bangkok and Beijing do not have an extradition deal, he said.
Chen Saikan, 23, Zhou Xiongfei, 23, and Zhou Pengfei, 24, are Chinese citizens.
“Chinese authorities arrested the suspects in China and have the authority to prosecute them without extradition to Thailand.” “The case carries the death penalty under Chinese law,” said the national police chief.
The suspects informed interrogators that the murder was the result of a love affair, according to Pol Gen Damrongsak. The victim, 22-year-old Jin Can, had previously been involved with one of the males in China. She was murdered in Thailand late last month because she refused intimacy with the guy.
He stated that Chinese and Thai police will interrogate the suspects collectively, both in China and in Thailand.
A 19-year-old Thai woman who worked at a karaoke shop, according to the national police director, was also detained. She was accused of acting as a sham in the kidnapping. He claimed that her knowledge was useful to investigators.
The deceased knew the suspects in China, according to Pol Maj Gen Peerapong Wongsaman, deputy commissioner of the Provincial Police Region 1. They had followed her to Thailand and remained in touch with her until her kidnapping, he claimed. They were on 15-day tourist permits.
According to reports, the murdered woman took online classes in China for her first two years of university study before arriving in Thailand on March 8 for her third-year courses.
She vanished on March 28, and her corpse was discovered on April 1 in Nonthaburi province.
According to previous accounts, the gang demanded a 500,000-yuan (approximately 2.5 million baht) ransom from her father and murdered her after failing to receive the money on March 29.
