Atlanta Shooting Leaves 1 dead, 5 Injured: Police

(CTN NEWS) – ATLANTA – Around 8 o’clock on Saturday night, an argument resulted in a gunshot nearby Atlantic Station that left at least one person dead and five others hurt, according to authorities.

According to Atlanta Police, five other persons were taken to the hospital, while one man died from his injuries. The six victims of gunfire range in age from 15 to 21, according to the police.

According to the police, due to the big group’s disorderly behaviour and curfew breaches at the well-known area, off-duty APD officers and Atlantic Station staff escorted them off the property.

The gang started arguing once they crossed over to 17th Street, close to the Downtown Connector overpass, and the confrontation resulted in a shooting on Market Street.

According to police, there could have been more than one shooter in the gunfire between two groups.

According to the official website of Atlantic Station, any children under the age of 18 who are not with a parent or guardian are subject to a rigorous 3 p.m. curfew.

Additionally, it stipulates that four or more juvenile groupings shall be expelled.

The group’s location before being led off the Atlantic Station site is unknown, according to APD. They are currently trying to access surveillance video from adjacent homes and businesses.

The incident occurs during one of the busiest times for the well-known entertainment and shopping district. With Black Friday having just ended, shoppers in the area have been active this holiday season.

In addition, crowds have been pouring into Atlantic Station all weekend for the Cirque du Soleil performances, which are running through December 24.

A nearby resident was able to record a video of the chaotic event from a great height with a view from her window.

A witness told 11Alive’s Dawn White that they could hear up to 30 rounds of gunshots ringing out.

The public is being enlisted by Atlanta Police in the investigation, and they have been invited to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 with any relevant information.

Whether or if a suspect is in custody is still a mystery to the police.
