China's Xi Reluctant To Accept Western Vaccines Despite Protests

(CTN NEWS) – Despite China’s difficulties with COVID-19, Chinese President Xi Jinping refuses to accept Western vaccines.

Recent protests in China may not pose a danger to Communist Party power, but they may harm Xi Jinping personally. Avril Haines, the U.S. director of national intelligence, revealed this on Saturday.

As a result of Xi’s zero-COVID policy, which precipitated a severe economic slowdown and widespread dissatisfaction.

Several localities are moving to relax testing and quarantine regulations, even though China’s daily COVID cases remain close to all-time highs.

According to Haines, Xi, despite the virus’s negative social and economic effects.

“is refusing to receive a stronger vaccination from the West and is instead depending on a vaccine in China that’s just not as effective against Omicron.”

As Haines said, “Seeing protests and the responses to it are undercutting the narrative he frequently puts forth, which is far more effective at the government.”

“It’s nothing that we now consider to pose a threat to stability or a regime transition,” she continued, adding that” its course will be crucial to Xi’s reputation.”

Some studies have revealed that the domestically made COVID vaccinations may not be as successful as some foreign ones that China has chosen to use instead of any imported COVID vaccines.

According to specialists, this indicates that loosening virus preventive procedures could come with significant consequences.

According to a statement made by the White House earlier in the week, China has not requested vaccines from the U.S. There is now “no anticipation” that China will accept western vaccines, a U.S. official told Reuters.

“It seems improbable now that China would approve Western vaccines.” The official said, “they would have to swallow quite a bit of national pride if they chose this course.”

Haines added that North Korea understood that China is much less likely to hold it responsible for what she called the “extraordinary” number of missile tests conducted by Pyongyang this year.

Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, declared this week that his nation wants to possess the most potent nuclear arsenal in the world amidst a record year for missile testing.

Admiral John Aquilino, the head of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, said China had no reason to constrain any nation, including North Korea, that was causing issues for the United States during a later panel.

Aquilino argued against the Chinese government’s position, saying, “it was part of their plan to cause those issues.”

However, he expressed pessimism about Beijing “doing anything useful to stabilize the area” despite China’s substantial leverage to pressure North Korea over its missile tests.
