Two Hungarians Tourists Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Bangkok

BANGKOK – Two Hungarian men have been killed and severely injured a Japanese man after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a passenger van in Bangkok, late Monday evening.

The Lumpini police station was alerted at 10.30pm of the accident in front of Soi Mahad Lek Luang 2 off Ratchadamri Road in Lumpini district near the BTS Ratchadamri station.

Police said the BMW S1000XR motorcycle hit the left side of a Toyota van, causing it to flip onto its right side. The motorcycle pierced through the side of the van.

The body of motorcyclist Adam Balogh, 30, was found on top of two severely injured men inside the van. The two other men were identified as Krisztian Bodrogi, 35, and Tatsuro Takaoka, 36. The two injured were rushed to Chulalongkorn Hospital.

Police said Bodrogi died later at the hospital, The Nation reported.

The van driver, Permsak Yainoi, 57, said he was driving the Japanese man back to his residence on the soi when the speeding bike with a driver and a pillion rider hit him.

Meanwhile, a Thai man was killed when he drove through a rail barrier and was hit by a Bangkok-bound passenger train at a crossing in Ban Pong district of Ratchaburi is a province in central Thailand.

The incident occurred at the railway crossing near a bridge in tambon Nong Kob, said Pol Col Surachai Boon-in, a duty-officer at Ban Pong police station, who was reported at around 6.30am.

Eyewitnesses told police that they saw a Toyota car with Bangkok licence plates driving through the barrier, which was lowered at a half lane of the road, when the Suphan Buri-Bangkok passenger train rammed into the car.

The train dragged the car to the bridge across Bang Tan canal, more than 30m from the crash scene. The car driver was killed and his body was trapped inside the wreckage of his Toyota sedan under the train, said police.
