Thailand Wins First Place at International Collegiate Snow Sculpture Contest’ in China

HARBIN, China – The team of four students from Trat Polytechnic College won the Top Grade Award at the 11th International Collegiate Snow Sculpture Contest 2019 in China.

The victory secures Thailand’s 10th consecutive win of the top prize at the world’s biggest ice festival in Harbin.

Thai college students grabbed the Top Grade Award for receiving the total highest score and also the Best Creative Award for their ice art piece, entitled “Rescue Mission Rivets Thamluang caves in Chiang Rai Thailand”.

The sculpture depicted the scene when the British diver found the boys and their coach on a ledge after they had been trapped in the flooded Tham Luang cave for over two weeks.

The two other Thai teams from Ubon Ratchathani Vocational College and Surat Thani Vocational College together won the second prize.

Thai teams are scheduled to arrive home at 6 pm. today.
