Pickup Crashes into Crane Truck Killing Six, Injuring 3 Others in Western Thailand
BANGKOK – Police Lt-Colonel Panasit Ritthirong has told Thai media that six people have been killed, 3 others injured after the pickup they were travelling in collided with a crane truck in western Thailand’s Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.
Lt-Colonel Panasit said that police and rescue workers arrived at the accident scene at approximately 11 am to find six dead and a seriously injured pregnant woman trapped inside the wrecked Toyota Vigo pickup truck.
Nearby they found the overturned crane truck whose unnamed driver and his wife were also seriously injured.
He said rescue workers had to use the jaws of life to extricate her from the wrecked pickup.
The cause of the accident was under investigation, but police suspected that the pickup driver was possibly not familiar with the road as the intersection had a blind spot for both parties and they could not see the other in time to slow down, resulting in the fatal collision.
Excessive speed may have also contributed to the tragic accident.
