Burma Army Attacks KIA in China

Some Chinese security officials, who apparently present at a meeting between Burma Army and Chinese officials last week about the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), subject, refused to give permission to the Burmese army to launch military operations against the KIA Chinese soil, according to Sino-Burmese border.

The denial followed a report by the Kachin News Group released on June 25 the “Sino-Burmese military to meet in Mangshi KIA” – that the Burmese army officers had asked China to allow its troops and its allies to cross the border to attack and capture Laiza, KIA headquarters. The two sides were reported to have met secretly in the night of June 23 in Mangshi in southwest China’s Yunnan province, bordering Burma.

A Chinese official confirmed that the meeting was held at the request of the Army in Burma.

“However, she did not consent to his request because we believe that it was not an appropriate way to solve the problem,” he said.

Laphai Nawdin, editor of the KNG, put in the report of his agency, and recalled a similar incident taken in 1987 when the Burmese army entered the Chinese territory to carry out a surprise attack against the former headquarters KIA Pa Jau-Na HPAW the back.

“There has been a precedent. Otherwise, the Burma Army could not have occupied HPAW Pajau-Na,” said Nawdin.

A similar incident took place on the border between Thailand and Burma, February 8, 2001, when 200 soldiers took Pangnoon board, a base in Thailand, and arrested 19 paramilitaries to attack the Shan State Army (SSA) “South” Loi base Kawwas, Chiangrai contrary, from the rear. The seizure of the base led to a military confrontation between the two countries.

However, the KIA said he has not seen any significant movement around their areas yet.

“Dozens of people dressed in civilian agents are believed to Burma Army are crossing the border every day,” said Nawdin.

The clashes between the Burma Army KIA would have stopped, but the tension between the two parties has not diminished, according to sources at the border. The two have been fighting since June 9 gangs in Momauk Sang (Mong Mawk) municipality in the district of Bhamo in Kachin State, forcing more than 20,000 civilians to flee Kachin along the border with China.

Mr. La Nan, deputy secretary and spokesperson of the KIO, said in answer to the question SHAN:

The Chinese government has urged the Burmese authorities to work for the stability of borders. I do not think it’s going to say something that is destructive. We have also heard these reports. But in reality, it is not so easy. China is a superpower and will not be so easy to give in. If the Burmese soldiers want to enter Chinese territory, all you have to do is get a pass border. However, we believe that the Chinese government will allow that to happen either.
