BANGKOK – A serious multi-vehicle crash in Nakhon Sawan left three people dead and seven others injured after a public health agency van from Uthai Thani rear-ended a highway department truck that was parked for roadside work.
The incident happened on the evening of February 10, 2026, on Phahonyothin Road (Highway 1), southbound, near a shop called Moji Watthanaporn in Moo 6, Nong Kradon Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Sawan.
Early reports say the vehicle was carrying eight people and was heading back to Uthai Thani after an official trip to Kamphaeng Phet. Three occupants were found dead at the scene: a doctor, a registered nurse, and the van driver. Five other passengers were hurt.
The highway department truck involved belongs to the Ban Dan Highway Maintenance Unit. Two workers who were with the truck were also injured. Rescue teams assisted all the injured and rushed them to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Wasil Sitthiphrai, the truck driver, said his team had been trimming trees along the median of Highway 1. The truck was parked on the far-right shoulder, and traffic cones and warning signs were set out as safety measures.
After the work was finished, they were preparing to move the truck out. He said the truck was about to shift toward the left lane, but before it could pull away, the van slammed into the rear of the truck with force.
Police and relevant agencies are still examining the crash site and collecting evidence to determine the exact cause of the accident.
