The 3 Fastest Ways to Get Permanent Residency in Canada

Thousands of people have already immigrated to Canada. If you want to be next in line, this is your one-stop to learn the fastest ways to get permanent residency in Canada.

Did you know that Canada is one of the most immigration-friendly countries in the world? The Great White North has been rated by the United Nations as one of the best countries to live in the world. So, what does the country have to offer? Well, only plenty of natural resources, quality healthcare, and some of the best universities in the world!

  1. Express Entry

The Express Entry system is one of Canada’s biggest permanent residency pathways. It is one of the most popular immigration options because of its speedy application processing time of just six months. The Express Entry system includes three programs, namely:

  1. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  2. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP); and
  3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

These programs are all geared towards people who want to live and work in Canada. However, they each have unique descriptions and requirements.

Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

Another program that allows you to obtain Canadian permanent residency status is the Federal Skilled Trades Program. The FSTP is designed for foreign trade workers with experience in eligible trade occupations (such as electricians, construction workers, agricultural workers) to immigrate to Canada.

To qualify to apply for the FSTP, in addition to applying through the Express Entry system, you need to:

  • Have a valid job offer or
  • Certificate of qualification

If you’re successful, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and be considered for permanent residency, which means you’ll be able to settle in any Canadian province or territory of your choice (besides Quebec, which has its own immigration pathways).

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The Canadian Experience Class program is designed for permanent residency applicants who already gained work experience in Canada through a temporary work permit. To apply, you have to complete skilled work in Canada for at least one year in the last three years.

There is a list of criteria you need to meet to apply for the CEC, which include:

  • Having full-time work experience in Canada or
  • Part-time work experience amounting to the same hours
  • Employment must be legally obtained in Canada

     2. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)

If you’re not eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residency status through the Express Entry system, don’t fret. You may have luck with Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).

Participating provinces have created a program that serves Canada’s economic needs and allows foreign workers to build a comfortable life in the country. Canada’s PNPs allow fast-tracked immigration processing in order to meet provincial needs. There are overall 11 different PNPs you can apply through.

There are two types of PNPs:

The Skilled Worker PNP

This program allows fast-tracked application processing for skilled workers who have a job offer from a provincial business in an occupation or business sector that meets the province’s needs.

Business Immigration Program

Most business immigration PNPs allow speedy immigration processing if the applicant takes one of the following courses of action in the province:

  • Start a new business
  • Enter a joint venture with a local business or
  • Invest money

    3. Start-up Visa Program

If you would like to start your own business and gain permanent residency in Canada, the Start-up Visa Program is for you. This program allows you to immigrate to Canada by starting a business anywhere in the country. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, this could be your Canadian permanent residency pathway.

To qualify for the Start-up Visa Program, your business will have to meet a set of requirements which includes:

  • Being innovative
  • Creating job opportunities for Canadians
  • Be able to compete with international business

Although these programs offer quick processing times, getting the visa application process started can be complex, especially if you’re doing it on your own. To get professional assistance in obtaining a Canadian visa and future permanent residency, visit CanadianVisa.org.
