CHIANG RAI – Joining hands with Capita Land Hope Foundation and iCare Thailand Foundation to raise funds for improvements to school dormitories Thailand, 7 July 2014 – The Ascott Limited (Ascott), serviced residence owner-operator in Thailand, Capita Land Hope Foundation (CHF), the philanthropic arm
of Capita Land and iCare Thailand Foundation partner in joint activities to provide school dormitory furniture to needy students studying in Doi Wiengpa Pitaya school, a rural school within Chiang Rai province in Northern Thailand.
84 new bunk beds, sheets, mattresses and individual storage boxes to store clothing have been donated to the school. The purpose was to enable improved accommodation conditions to the hill tribe students who live in remote villages and would be unable to attend school and thereby attain a better education.
Mr Jean Keijdener, Ascott’s Country General Manager for Thailand, said: “Our efforts from the very beginning were to give back to the community. We are delighted our contributions will help and support by creating better living conditionsfor those children in poverty. The improved dormitories allow boys and girls who live too far away the opportunity to attend school. More education could lead these children to a healthier life and a better chance for a brighter future.”
Mr Keijdener added: “Doi Wiengpa Pitaya school has around 575 children from kindergarten to junior high level. Most of them come from low income families and live in rural areas. 85 students board at the school because their homes are too far away. The improved facilities will greatly increase their chance of attaining better educational opportunities.”
Besides the dormitory furniture donation, Ascott’s staff and iCare Thailand Foundation’s team also visited the Doi Wiengpa Pitaya school, played games, helped setting up the new beds for the children and presented some food, boxes of milk and snacks to all the children.
