Shopping for clothes and shoes

Here are a few expressions you can use while shopping for clothes and shoes.

‘What size are you?’ ‘I’m a medium / large.’
‘Could you take my measurements?’ ‘Of course.’
‘Can I try this on?’ ‘Sure. The changing room is over there.’
‘Could you measure my waist / chest?’ ‘Sure.’
‘Can I try this coat on?’ ‘Certainly.’
‘Would you like to try these shoes on?’ ‘Yeah.’
‘Do you have these shoes in a size 9?’ ‘Let me see.’
‘I like this coat, but it’s too big for me. Have you got this in a smaller size?’
‘I’d like to try these trousers on. Where is the changing room?’ ‘It’s over there.’
It’s much too large for me.
No, it doesn’t fit.
It’s a little too big.
‘Is that shirt a good fit?’ ‘Yeah, it’s just right.’

Making a choice

‘Did you try these shoes on? Do they feel comfortable?’ ‘Actually, they’re a little small for me. Have you got them in a bigger size?’
‘This shirt doesn’t fit me. It’s a little too big.’
‘What do you think of these?’ ‘I don’t like the color.’
‘This color suits you well.’
‘This color doesn’t suit me. Is this the only color you’ve got?’
‘Is this washable?’ ‘Yes, it’s washable.’ / ‘No, it has to be dry-cleaned.’
