Child artiste Deepak Saroj has made his debut as a lead actor in Siddharth Roy, which was released today. Read on for our review of the movie.

Story:

Siddharth Roy (Deepak Saroj) perceives life as a realm governed by logic and basic physical needs such as food, sleep, and intimacy. However, the emotionally detached youngster unexpectedly falls for Indumathi (Tanvi Negi), whose beliefs starkly contrast with his own. When Indu abruptly leaves him, the mystery of her departure lingers. Did she return for Siddhu, or did he undergo a transformation for her? The film delves into unraveling these enigmas.

Plus Points:

Deepak Saroj deserves recognition for his bold choice to debut as a lead in a narrative that diverges from the norm. He executes the director’s vision admirably, earning praise for his commitment.

Tanvi Negi delivers a performance that perfectly aligns with her character’s essence, exuding captivating charm. The supporting cast also delivers commendable performances, staying true to their roles and enriching the film’s coherence.

Minus Points:

It’s important to note that in current times, sporting a thick beard, long hair, and smoking two cigarettes simultaneously is often interpreted as displaying attitude, which may not necessarily be the case.

While the story may have held promise on paper, its on-screen execution falters due to an excessive focus on the hero’s characterization. The screenplay meanders and appears contrived and redundant at times.

The inclusion of gratuitous lovemaking scenes, along with bold and provoking dialogues and character behaviors, fails to resonate with family audiences, detracting from the film’s overall appeal.

The lackluster songs further contribute to a disjointed narrative, hindering viewer engagement.

Technical Aspects:

Director Yeshasvi could have exercised more restraint in narrating the story, avoiding unnecessary embellishments. The screenplay lacks dynamism and fails to sustain momentum.

While the cinematography meets expectations, the score falls short of enhancing the narrative’s impact. Significant editing is warranted in both halves of the film to improve pacing. Nonetheless, the production values remain commendable.

Verdict:

On the whole, Siddharth Roy emerges as a romantic drama marred by excesses, particularly in portraying the protagonist’s demeanor. Apart from Deepak’s committed performance, the film offers too little to celebrate. Viewers, especially family audiences, are advised to explore alternative entertainment options.
