Oscars Nominations 2022: Power of the Dog Leads Nominations
The Power of the Dog: Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan announced the Oscar nominations for the 94th Academy Awards 2022 on Tuesday, and director Jane Campion made history by becoming the first woman to receive two nominations in the category of Best Director. Her nomination follows her nomination for the acclaimed film The Power of the Dog. She was nominated for the Academy Award for The Piano in 1994.

Jane Campion’s Netflix film The Power of the Dog received several nominations during the Oscar nominations announcement on February 8, 2022. Following her 1994 nomination for Best Director, Campion now has two Oscar nominations for Best Director. Campion was nominated in the category alongside Steven Spielberg for his work in West Side Story, Kenneth Branagh for Belfast, Paul Thomas Anderson for Licorice Pizza, and Ryusuke Hamaguchi for Drive My Car.

The Power of the Dog Oscars nominations 2022
The Power of the Dog received several nominations and is in the running for an Oscar. The film was nominated for Best Picture as well as Best Adapted Screenplay, Score, Editing, and Cinematography. In addition to Cumberbatch, who played the lead role in the film, Kristen Dunst and Kodi Smitt-McPhee were nominated for Best Supporting Actor, and Jesse Plemons was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Adapting Thomas Savage’s 1967 novel by the same name, the film saw Benedict Cumberbatch take on an entirely new role, for which he received high praise. It addressed important issues such as repressing sexuality and toxic masculinity and was praised for its sensitivity.
