Healthy feet are so satisfying to look at but taking care of your feet is easier said than done. Being one of our most ignored body parts, it is easily prone to dirt and bacterial infections. That is why it is important for everyone to know the right tips and tricks for foot care.

So, here’s presenting you 6 tips one must follow to get healthy and soft feet every day. Make sure to stick till the end because some of them will be useful in your everyday life too.

1. Keep your feet clean and dry

To be honest, no one has time to go for regular nail sessions so instead indulge in regular hygiene that leaves your feet healthy and supple.

First, start by keeping your feet clean and dry every time. When feet are moist, they are prone to attracting fungus inside the nails and heels. If you have sweaty feet (don’t worry, 5% of the total population has it) then wear socks made of synthetic fibres.

Whenever you come home after a long day, make sure to clean your feet with proper soap and water and pat dry with a towel. Make sure to dry well between each toe and that’s it.

2. Cut toenails properly

Improper, dirty, and sharp toenails look unattractive. Moreover, they are just the perfect place for stubborn fungus to settle down. If they persist, you might have to go for fungal nail treatment. That’s why it’s best to keep your nails short and clean.

While bathing, clean the nails with body scrubbers and finish washing with cold water. Pat dry (exactly like how I told you to) and then chip your toenails really short. Repeat the same process once every two weeks and enjoy the healthy shine on your feet.

3. Avoid sharing footwear

You have no idea how much bacteria and dirt prevails inside the daily wear shoes. These bacteria can come up to your feet and creep inside your nail causing skin infections. So, avoid borrowing anyone’s shoes or heels, no matter how much you want them.

On other hand, if you suffer from regular foot infections or your feet are sweaty all the time, avoid giving your shoes as well.

4. Don’t choose tight footwear

Most people tend to ignore this small detail while maintaining their foot health. I know it looks very stylish wearing tight sandals and heels, but what’s the point if you’re left with swollen feet at the end of the day.

So, shop for footwear that has enough room for your toes and a wide stable heel. Avoid pointy shoes as they can cramp your toes and cause ingrown toenails and calluses.

If you have sweaty feet, look for shoes that are made of mesh fabrics. That will help your toes to breathe and stay comfortable all day.

5. Examine your feet for problems

Take a good look at your feet every once a week. While bathing looks as if there’s a nail discolouration, peeling at the sole, or dirt between your nails. If there are none, congratulations, continue with your shower.

But if you see any kind of problems, it is advised not to perform any bathroom surgery and head straight to a doctor.

A minor problem can be easily solved via medication before they become much worse. So please let the experts handle it, before Googling home remedies for the “problem” you are looking for.

6. Keep your blood sugar level in control

I know it sounds weird but according to research by the National Institutes of Health, the amount of sugar in our blood has a direct relation with our feet’ health.

So, develop good habits by indulging more in physical activity and keeping a balanced diet. This will not only help your feet but your overall body.

7. Get homemade pedicures

The best and easiest way to keep your feet soft is by applying moisturizers at night. This will avoid cracks on your heels and give you an amazing glow.

For extra self-care sessions, take your pedicure kit out of your closet and pamper yourself. Keep your feet in warm water and scrub out the dead cells. Then use a filer to take out dirt from the toenails and top it off with a thick moisturizer.

Your feet are going to thank you for this.

Over to you…

With these amazing tips, your feet are going to stay pain-free and healthy every day. And oh, before I forget, don’t forget to put on moisturizer before sleeping today for soft and supple feet tomorrow.
