CHIANG RAI – A group of English-speaking Buddhists and those interested in Buddhism will meet Sunday, January 26, at Klang Wian Temple.
One of the organizers, Tony MacGregor, said everyone with an interest in Buddhism, foreigner or Thai, is welcome.
“There are English-speaking Buddhist groups in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and we think there is enough support for one here,” he said.
He said the group will meet every Sunday at the temple from 12 pm to 1:30 pm. “We will follow a program similar to Western Buddhist services,” he said. “That will mean some chanting, some meditation, a talk by a monk and a discussion.”
He said an English-speaking Thai monk Phra Yutthapong Pongrangsee will give a brief talk followed by questions, discussion and tea.
The temple is downtown and easy to reach. It is located at the intersection of Uttarakit and Rattanakhet roads, about 500 meters South East of Wat Phra Kaew and 200 meters from the Wat Phra Singh. It is close to the main post office and the old clock tower.
