Whether you’re in the mood for a laugh or a good cry, we’ve got recommendations for everyone. So, please sit back, relax, and let us guide you to the perfect viewing experience.

What to Watch This Weekend: TV Shows

The Muppets Mayhem

Release Date: May 10 on Disney+

Fans of felt, rejoice! The new Disney+ series The Muppets Mayhem features The Muppets once again, and they’re more musical than ever.

The fuzzy pals focus on their house band, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, who, arguably, have been responsible for the most trouble over the years. You’d think by now the band would have music on record.

It turns out that all of that was delayed by the decades of partying, and up until today, these rock stars had never actually released an album.

This presentation explores the making-of of this monumental recording, leading to nonstop antics from Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot, and Lips.

And what about people? Lily Singh, Anders Holm, Saara Chaudry, Lil Nas X, and possibly Tommy Lee can be expected.

The Great: Season 3 (2023)

Release Date: May 12 on Apple TV+

The popular Hulu series The Great is currently in its third season. Two seasons of this comedy, which Hulu calls “anti-historical,” are Certified Fresh, with the second season scoring a Fresh 100% on the Tomatometer.

That is the primary justification to watch season 3.

The two Emmy-nominated actors who play married pair Catherine the Great and Emperor Peter III on the show, Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult, are the obvious choice for reason No. 2.

And while we’re on the subject of Fanning, she hinted at a Deadline event earlier this year that season 3 would have their characters working on their marriage through counselling and possibly even a marital witch.

A marital witch, indeed.

What to Watch This Weekend: Movies

Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie (2023)

The bio-doc is currently streaming on Apple TV+. Still: a film starring Michael J. Fox.

In addition to the fact that Michael J. Fox is just plain great and motivational, this movie also uses archival, documentary, and scripted materials to tell his tale, providing us unprecedented access to his family and private life.

Additionally, it has a remarkable 99% Certified Fresh rating at the moment on the

BlackBerry (2023)

Release Date: May 12 in Theaters

This week’s opening movie in theatres is the historical comedy BlackBerry.

As the film’s title suggests, it does indeed chronicle the amazing tale of the BlackBerry, widely regarded as the original smartphone and the device that everyone used before getting an iPhone.

This movie was adapted from a best-selling book, so there were plenty of juicy details to choose from, and it stars the consistently entertaining Jay Baruchel, Glenn Howerton, with Cary Elwes in a supporting role.

If you haven’t already stood up to search a forgotten drawer for your own old BlackBerry. This film festival favourite is already Certified Fresh on the Tomatometer in addition to all that berry sweetness.

Book Club: The Next Chapter (2023)

Release Date: May 12 in Theaters

Book Club: The Next Chapter is reuniting in theatres, and the first reason to check it out is that it once again has the same star-studded cast, including Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen.

But this time, as they take their little book club to Italy, where plenty of drama is uncorked, we get to enjoy them in a different setting.

If you were a fan of the first Book Club, you’re likely to appreciate this one for all of the same reasons as the original Book Club only received a 54% on the Tomatometer from reviewers yet still managed to be a box office success.

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)

Last but not least, how about lounging at home while watching Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle on Vudu?

You might be wondering why we chose this movie, especially since 4/20 has already passed, but there are actually two excellent reasons: first, it’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month right now, so why not celebrate it in style?

Additionally, this Fresh gem reaches 19 this year — yup, you’re getting old — so it qualifies for our RT25 celebration as we reflect fondly on Rotten Tomatoes’ 25-year history.

So start this one up for the weekend and bring your closest friend and some snacks.
