Sing 2

Sing 2: Five years after its prequel, “Sing 2″ hits theaters just in time for Christmas. After the COVID pandemic delayed the first “Sing” sequel from December 25, 2020, the movie musical adaptation “Wicked” was pushed back to fill the slot left open by the onset of the COVID pandemic.

Sing 2” was originally set to release on December 25, 2020, but the movie was pushed back to July 2, 2021, before COVID became an issue. Universal further delayed the release date of Sing 2 to April 2020 in order to accommodate Illumination’s other big project, “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” but that movie was also delayed due to production issues.

Is “Sing 2” Streaming?

A streaming version of “Sing 2” won’t be available on the day it’s released. In 2021, after the film has made its cinematic run, it will possibly be streamed on Peacock – starting in 2022, all Universal Pictures films will be streamed 45 days after they land in theaters. The same has not been true of Universal’s 2021 releases, and thus far only “Halloween Kills” has been released simultaneously on Peacock and in theaters.

Is “Sing 2” in Theaters?

Yess! The movie “Sing 2” will be shown in movie theaters nationwide starting on Dec. 22.

What Is “Sing 2” About?

In this anticipated sequel, Buster Moon, a dreamy koala who wants to build a local movie theater, returns, but stakes are higher, competition is fiercer, and there is a richer soundtrack than ever before. There’s a new gig on the horizon for Moon’s crew, which entails performing a brand new show at the glamorous Crystal Tower Theater in Redshore City, the home of literal entertainment wolf Jimmy Crystal. Performing Alice in Wonderland laced with instantly recognizable hit songs, the “Sing” gang returns for a new show. A few obstacles stand in their way: a disinterested talent scout says they can’t make it big, an intimidating boss (Crystal) to persuade them otherwise, and then the false claim that Buster Moon has connections to reclusive rockstar Clay Calloway – who hasn’t performed in years since the death of his wife, despite the fact that Moon promises Crystal he’ll join them on stage. This sequel film promises all sorts of animated antics and a solid soundtrack – peppered with both classic hits and more recent smash singles – that will keep you entertained for quite a while.

Matthew McConaughey is the man behind Buster Moon. Tori Kelly sings Meena the elephant’s ballads. Rosita is infused with the tireless energy of superhero mother pig Reese Witherspoon. Gunter is voiced by Nick Kroll, who is hilarious and gregarious. Taron Egerton portrays Johnny, who works hard. As Nana, Jennifer Saunders plays a retired singer and performer who now owns Moon’s theater, rescuing it from actual ruin when “Sing” went terribly wrong. Bono voices Clay Calloway, the long-lost lion rockstar. Director Garth Jennings voices Miss Crawly the lizard with a glass eye in the “Sing” franchise. With her extensive knowledge of Clay Calloway, Scarlett Johansson’s porcupine Ash (Scarlett Johansson) becomes a huge asset in the film.

Bobby Cannavale is back as Jimmy Crystal; Halsey is Porsha’s mother; Chelsea Peretti is the talent recruiter dog Suki; Adam Buxton is Klaus Kickenklober; Letitia Wright is Nooshy the breakdancing cat; Eric Andre is Darius the arrogant heartthrob, and Pharrell Williams is Alfonso the elephant. Additionally, director Wes Anderson has a cameo in the film, just as he did in the original “Sing” alongside directors Edgar Wright and Chris Renaud (“Despicable Me”), as reported by Collider.
