Schwarzenegger and Shriver Divorce Terminated after 10 years

The marriage of Terminator actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver has ended more than 10 years after the award-winning journalist filed a petition to end their 25-year union. On Tuesday, a Los Angeles judge finalized the divorce, according to court records.

Schwarzenegger revealed in 2011 that he had fathered a child with a member of their household staff years earlier. They had been married since 1986.

Despite the tabloid frenzy, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Shriver handled their divorce quietly and without making any public accusations.

The reason for the delay is not clear. From a spate of filings in 2011 to the resumption of court proceedings in June, virtually no public action was taken in the case.

The settlement’s financial details were kept confidential. Since the couple’s four children have become adults, there are no plans to pay child support or establish custody.

Both parties agree that neither of them has to pay spousal support to the other but reserve the right to do so in the future.

Lawyers for the former couple did not respond to messages seeking comment.

After a successful bodybuilding career, Schwarzenegger earned a fortune as an action star playing roles in “Terminator” and “Conan” films. Schwarzenegger, a Republican, was elected to the governorship in 2003 following widespread power outages and economic problems under Governor Gray Davis.

Schwarzenegger fathered illegitimate child

Arnold stepped down from his film career to become governor for two terms. A year after leaving office, he admitted to fathering a son with a member of his household staff named Joseph Baena. He is now 24 years old. In July 2011, Shriver filed for divorce.

The actor has occasionally returned to acting since, with roles in movies such as “Terminator” and “Expendables”.

Shriver resigned as a correspondent on “Dateline” after her husband announced he was running for governor.

She returned to work as a television journalist after her husband left office, producing stories for NBC while advocating for women’s rights and reporting on and advocating for people with Alzheimer’s disease.

In 2018, she published her bestselling book, “I’ve Been Thinking…: Reflections Prayers and Meditations for a Meaningful Life.”

She is the daughter of Ex-President John F. Kennedy’s sister, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, and of a famous Peace Corps leader who ran for president in 1972, Sargent Shriver.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver’s children range in age from 24 to 32. Kate Schwarzenegger, the eldest, is an author and is married to actor Chris Pratt.
