Netflix Cancels ‘Cowboy Bebop After Just One Season

The highly anticipated live-action series “Cowboy Bebop” has been cancelled by Netflix after just one season. Devastating the cast members, crew, and above all the fans. Despite its debut on Nov. 19, the spinoff was cancelled by Netflix less than a month later.

Based on the 1998 anime cartoon series of the same name, the 10-part Netflix series followed intergalactic bounty hunters Spike Spiegel (John Cho); Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir, 45); and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda, 34); as they attempted to escape their traumatic pasts by pursuing criminals throughout the solar system.

“I had a great time working on it,” tweeted Javier Grillo-Marxuach, co-executive producer. ‘It comes from a real place of love and respect.”

The actor also said, “I would have liked to be able to make what we planned for a second season, but as the saying goes, men plan, God laughs. See you later, Space Cowboy.”

Mason Alexander Park, who played the non-binary character Gren in the series, wrote back to say it was “a pleasure working with you.”

During all this, series star John Cho tweeted a gif of actor Tom Selleck holding back tears as he captioned “I’m okay.”

“I truly loved working on this,” tweeted co-executive producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach. “It came from a real and pure place of respect and affection.”

He added: “I wish we could make what we planned for a second season, but you know what they say, men plan, god laughs. See you, Space Cowboy.”

Nonetheless, the cast and crew were devastated by the cancellation of “Cowboy Bebop.”

Many Cowboy Beboppers echoed their sentiments, with one writing, “It was a delightful show that did justice to the source (IMO), and I wanted to see much more of it.”
