'Mortal Kombat 1' Confirms Jean-Claude Van Damme And Early Access

(CTN News) – Jean-Claude Van Damme will appear in Mortal Kombat 1 as part of the $109.99 Premium Edition, but only for those who purchase the game.

As the capstone of Mortal Kombat 1’s official reveal, NetherRealm and Warner Bros. have confirmed some of the characters that will be featured on the roster as well as a few details regarding the story.

There were many other details confirmed by the official Mortal Kombat 1 reveal trailer, including the game’s title, eight returning characters (with Johnny Cage confirmed later as the game’s ninth playable character), as well as the fact that Liu Kang becoming the Fire God is the canon ending for Mortal Kombat 11:

Aftermath. Since Mortal Kombat 1’s reveal trailer was released, more information about the game has been revealed, such as what fans can expect from the Premium Edition of the game as well as the Kollector’s Edition.

The Mortal Kombat 1 pre-orders will be going live on May 19, and at that time fans of the franchise will be able to choose between three versions of the game.

You will find a $69.99 version of the game to choose from, but there will also be a $109.99 Premium Edition which comes with early access to the game (making it playable on September 14 instead of September 19), 1,250 Dragon Krystals (the game’s microtransactions), and a Kombat Pack.

As part of the Kombat Pack, players will get a Johnny Cage skin that makes him look like Jean-Claude Van Damme, as well as early access to six DLC characters and five new Kameo Fighters.

There will also be a Kollector’s Edition available for $249.99 for PS5 and Xbox Series X that will include all of that, as well as a 16.5-inch Liu Kang sculpture from COARSE, a Liu Kang in-game character skin, three art prints, a steel case, and 1,450 additional Dragon Krystals for a total of 2,700.

There is a certain irony about Jean-Claude Van Damme being included in Mortal Kombat because it makes the franchise come full circle.

In the original Mortal Kombat game, Van Damme was supposed to play a starring role and was supposed to play a significant role in the plot.

As a result, those plans didn’t work out, but Johnny Cage was brought in as a replacement for Van Damme. It’s not surprising that Johnny Cage will be getting a skin that portrays Jean-Claude Van Damme because this new game is called Mortal Kombat 1.

Johnny Cage did not appear in the Mortal Kombat 1 reveal trailer, but it is pretty safe to assume that he will be a part of the base roster when Mortal Kombat 1 launches in September. If you wish to get the Jean-Claude Van Damme skin, you will need to spring for the $109.99 Premium Edition.

However, if you are a hardcore Mortal Kombat fan, it may well be worth the cost of admission, especially given that you can get early access and DLC characters as well.
