Jussie Smollett Gets 150 Days In Jail For Lying To Police About Fake Attack
Fox News reports that actor Jussie Smollett, who was convicted of staging a hate crime and lying to police on Thursday, March 10, has been jailed. The actor was sentenced by Cook County Judge James Linn to 30 months of felony probation and 150 days in jail. Jussie Smollett was also ordered to pay $120,106 in restitution to the city of Chicago and a $25,000 fine. Jussie Smollett was immediately taken into custody by the Cook County judge.

When offered the chance by the court, Empire star did not respond. Jussie Smollett reportedly stood up at the defense table after his sentencing, as the sheriffs surrounded him. The actor claimed he did not commit any hate crimes and that he isn’t suicidal
“Your Honor, I respect you and I respect the jury, but I didn’t do that. I am not suicidal either. If anything bad happens to me while I am in there, it was not my fault. ‘I am innocent,’ the actor reportedly yelled as he was led from the courtroom by deputies. I could have told them I was guilty years ago”.
Jussie Smollett hate crime hoax case
Earlier this year, the actor reportedly told police that he was attacked outside his building by two men. Susie claimed that the men in ski masks used racial and homophobic slurs toward him. Smollett said that the attackers used their hands, feet, and teeth as weapons during the attack. According to the Chicago Police Department, the actor was treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and ‘was not seriously injured.’ Smollett was reportedly charged by a grand jury with a class 4 felony a month later for filing a false police report.
