Ugandan Man Arrested in Central Thailand for Impersonating a Buddhist Monk

BANGKOK – Thailand’s Immigration police in central Thailand have arrested a 32 year-old Ugandan man for illegally entering Thailand and impersonating a Buddhist monk .

Immigration police reported that Mr. Ssali Bager, 32, had been reported of wandering around in saffron robe near a temple in Sa Kaeo province.

On Friday, police searched him and found his Ugandan passport without proper Thai visa.

Immigration record shows that Beggar entered Thailand on January 9 with a tourist visa which expired five days ago.

He claimed that he wanted study Buddhism in the kingdom.

After his visa expired he has worn monk robe to avoid prosecution and possible deportation.
