HUA HIN – Pol Lt Col Naruepanat Assadindecha, an investigator at Hua Hin police station has told Thai media that  police are investigating why a Dutch tourist fell to his death from the rooftop of a dormitory in Hua Hin on Thursday afternoon.

Pol Lt Col Naruepanat said the body of a 68 year-old Dutch National (name withheld) was found face-down on the narrow path alongside the four-storey building on Naeb Khehat Road in tambon Hua Hin.

Police inspected the rooftop of the building after residents said they saw the man walking around the dormitory and then going up to the rooftop. Shortly after, he fell to his death.

According to the Bangkok Post, investigators found no signs of a struggle on the rooftop, a security camera recording showed him falling to the ground at 4.26pm.

Wassana Ngarmlua, 50, housekeeper of the dormitory, said the Dutchman was a regular customer and visited Hua Hin every year. He had again arrived in Hua Hin last month and stayed in a room on the first floor.

She saw him leave his room on Thursday morning, but did not see him return.

She was sitting at the dormitory counter in the afternoon when she heard a loud noise outside. When she checked she found the man lying in a pool of blood on the ground beside the building.

Police were investigating whether it was an accident, murder or suicide.
