Police Arrest Man for Brutally Murdering his Mother in Food Court

It has been reported by police in Bangkok that a 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murdering his mother. Police discovered that she had been stabbed to death and that she had four plastic bags over her head. Several zip ties had been used to close them.

The attack occurred Wednesday evening in the Lumphini district of Bangkok in a room of the food court of an office building. Police were called by witnesses.

Pol Lt Col Therdsak Manaschon, investigation chief at Lumphini police, said police, forensic officers, a doctor and rescue workers were called to the fourth floor of Mahatun Plaza Building on Phoenchit Road.

The food court and parking are located on the fourth floor.

Media reports state that witnesses were gathered there talking about the events when police arrived.

The police were told that a man was hiding inside of a room there, where his mother was murdered. He opened the door and surrendered after being spoken to by officers through the door.

The body of the suspect’s mother, who had a shop in the food court, was discovered inside the room. Her head and neck were wrapped in four plastic bags, and she was covered in blood. There were two knives on the ground nearby.

The suspect was confirmed to be the dead woman’s son by investigators. He was a Rayong-based engineer with a large company. He sought treatment at Samitivej Hospital after suffering from work-related stress.

Currently, on leave, he has returned to Bangkok to spend about two weeks with his mother.

Witnesses told investigators that he went into an unprovoked frenzy on Wednesday. His mother was killed suddenly and without warning.

The suspect, whose name has been withheld, was taken away to Lumphini police station.
