Norwegian Kicked and Robbed by Motorcycle Taxi Driver in Pattaya

PATTAYA – Norwegian tourist Tore Klungeruik, has complained to Pattaya police after he was robbed by a motorcycle taxi driver in Pattaya, Chon Buri, on Thursday morning after a night out on the town.

Tore Klungeruik, 50, was later helped by a passerby and reported the assault to Pattaya police.

Tore Klungeruik said the motorcycle taxi driver had assaulted him and stolen about 12,000 baht cash and his iPhone.

The tourist told police he then hailed a passing motorcycle taxi to take him back to his room, agreeing to pay 200 baht, instead the motorcycle driver rode around Pattaya town for a half hour before hitting him in the face with his elbow, knocking him off the back of the bike onto the ground.

He then kicked him several times before robbing him of his cash and smartphone.

Mr Klungeruik was seen walking, injured along the road by Sompong Chanduang, 34, who took him to Pattaya Memorial Hospital for treatment and then to the police station to file a complaint, police said.

Police said they would examine surveillance camera footage in the area and launch a hunt for the motorcycle driver.
